About this event
Shakespeare's King Richard III is standing trial for the murder of heirs, rivals, friends and wives on Sunday 29th April 2018 from 7.00pm.
Following the success of Trial of Macbeth (2015) and Trial of Hamlet (2016), Shakespeare Schools Foundation (SSF) is delighted to bring you another 'Brilliant!' (Ashurst) court case that could change the course of history.
Court of Appeal judge Lady Justice Hallett will preside alongside four top criminal barristers from Cloth Fair Chambers and 2 Hare Court.
John Kelsey-Fry QC and Sallie Bennett-Jenkins QC will form the defence with Ian Winter QC and Jonathan Laidlaw QC as the prosecution.
Hugh Dennis will host as jury foreman and a cast including David Oakes (ITV's Victoria) will take to the stand along with performances from young people taking part in Shakespeare Schools Festival.
You, the audience, hold the power to decide to acquit or convict King Richard III.
TRIAL OF RICHARD III is a unique fundraising event in aid of cultural education charity Shakespeare Schools Foundation.
