The Queen's Theatre Hornchurch's regional premiere of Once, co-produced with the New Wolsey Theatre Ipswich, has bagged a staggering 6 nominations in the prestigious Off West End Theatre Awards - more commonly known as 'The Offies'.

The assessors from The Offies have nominated Once for

- Best Musical Production

- Ben Goddard for Best Musical Direction

- Emma Lucia for Best Female Performance in a Musical

- Daniel Healy for Best Male Performance in a Musical

- Sean Kingsley and Samuel Martin for Best Male Performance in a Supporting Role in a Musical.

Though it's terrific news for the entire company as well as the two producing venues, it's not really such a big surprise to us here at ActDrop since we gave the show a well-deserved 5 star rating in our recent review of it (you can read Peter's full review here).

Still, 6 award nominations for a single show is a fantastic achievement and our congratulations go to all involved with the production - no doubt there'll be some extended celebrations in the venue's bar later this evening!

The OffWestEnd.com website, which champions London's independent theatres, launched the annual awards in 2010 to celebrate excellence in productions outside the West End.

The Queen's Theatre is one of over 80 participating venues across the capital and a final shortlist of nominees is expected early next year.

Featuring an ensemble of cast of actor-musicians, Once tells the story of a Dublin street musician and a funny Czech woman, drawn together by their shared love of music.

As they assemble a band from her wild family and his quirky mates, the music flows and they fall slowly in love.

If you haven't seen the musical, it's a real treat and there's still time to catch it at Queen's Theatre Hornchurch - listing details and link to book tickets below.

And here's a flavour of the production ...
