If you're walking in the West End later tonight you may hear the sound of champagne corks popping as the team behind Everybody's Talking About Jamie get to celebrate their first year in theatre-land.

During a whirlwind year at the West End's Apollo Theatre, the show has managed to collect 7 major theatre awards including the Whats On Stage award for Best Musical.

And it also received 5 Olivier Award Nominations and has recently been shortlisted for the Evening Standard Theatre Award for Best New Musical.

Jamie has also had a cinema screening this year and by the end of 2018 it will have been seen in over 1000 cinemas worldwide.

There's also a major film version on the way and the original cast recording topped the iTunes charts.

Producer Nica Burns said ...

"It is the stuff of dreams that our home-grown British musical should have found a home in the heart of the West End.

We are all absolutely delighted.

A very big thank you to our fantastic audiences that have kept us here and to everyone who has supported us so brilliantly.

Please keep on talking about Jamie so we can celebrate many more birthdays!"

Everybody's Talking About Jamie is now booking until 28 September 2019, so it looks like there'll be more happy birthdays to celebrate in the future!

Here's the trailer ...
