The much-loved star of stage and screen, Dame Julie Andrews, is set to be in conversation with actor Alex Jennings on Saturday 2 November 2019 in the Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall.

This unique event enables Dame Julie to celebrate the publication of her highly anticipated memoir Home Work: A Memoir of My Hollywood Years.

With her trademark honesty and lively wit, Dame Julie will reflect on her extraordinary career, revealing the experiences and the stage and film roles that have helped her garner multiple awards as well as a special place in the nation's heart.

The audience will be taken on an intimate journey spanning more than half a century, looking back on her iconic performance as Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady on Broadway, her feature film debut as the magical Mary Poppins and her unforgettable portrayal of Maria von Trapp in The Sound of Music.

She will also discuss her more recent roles, including Queen Clarisse Renaldi in The Princess Diaries films, Marlena in the hugely successful Despicable Me and Minion franchises and Queen Lillian in the blockbuster Shrek franchise.

Alex Jennings has had many stage roles for the National Theatre, the West End, the English National Opera and many other theatres, for which he has received multiple awards, from the Evening Standard Drama Award for Best Actor to the Olivier Award, Best Actor.

He played Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady at the Théatre du Chatelet in Paris, and at the Sydney Opera House in the 60th anniversary production directed by Dame Julie Andrews.
