Write Now 7 Festival
Monday 16 May 2016
Authors, playwrights & plays - Festivals
This festival is continuing at The Jack Studio Theatre with winning play Better Together by David Weir running until 28 May, plus workshops ...
The Write Now Festival has been running at The Jack Studio Theatre for the past 6 years.
Under the artistic direction of Kate Bannister, the festival has become an essential part of the Jack Studio Theatre’s annual programme, and it aims to find and produce the most exciting and significant work of emerging writers.
Each year a full-length play is chosen from submissions of previously unperformed plays from writers who have a connection to south east London - the home of The Jack Studio.
The winning play is then given a full production run at the theatre.
Alongside the winning full-length play the theatre runs writing workshops, and the festival is launched with performances of ten minute plays on a given theme.
The 2016 winning play is: Better Together by David Weir.
The play is about the love that binds us together, and the time when we need to break away and make our own lives.
‘Independence matters, Dad.’
Better Together is being premiered at the Jack Studio until 28 May (the show began its run on 10 May).
