Synopsis

For Queen and Country tells the incredible true story of Major Denis Rake MC.

A musical theatre and cabaret performer, Denis was recruited into Churchill's Secret Operations Executive during World War Two as a spy and wireless operator.

Dropped into occupied France, Denis was told to take on another identity so became a drag queen, entertaining Nazi Officers.

Denis' experiences first came to light on the BBC2 programme Secret Agent Selection: WW2, Programme contributor and writer Paul Stone brings to life Denis' story and showcases the contribution of the LGBT+ community to the war effort along with the heroism of women like Nancy Rake and Virginia Hall, two of the Nazi's most wanted spies.

Neil Summerville plays Denis.

Described by WhatsOnStage as "a beautifully restrained, nuanced and emotionally honest performer" Neil gives a hilarious and heart-breaking performance of a true hero.
