The Marchland Arms is part of the development process for the next full Marchland Season in 2020 - inviting the audience in to experience these shorter, carefully-crafted works-in-progress and to give feedback on them as part of their evolution into fully-formed works for the main season.
The idea for The Marchland Arms came out of the first full Marchland Season, launched by Anglo-French production company Theatre Volière in 2018 at The Bridewell Theatre.
Both Marchland Season and The Marchland Arms seek to explore what it means to be European today, utilising the voices of both past and present and with a particular focus on dialogue and story telling.
It is partly funded by the European Cultural Foundation and supported by Raven Row Art Gal- lery in Spitalfields.
Théâtre Volière and friends take over one of London's oldest pubs, for a weekend of interdisciplinary events from the edges and in-between places of Europe.
Three sessions in three rooms, each one a mixture of new and ancient music, poetry and performance.
