Synopsis

Is forgiveness really possible in this world?

What is the difference between revenge and justice?

In The Bridge's exhilarating and physically committed production of Shakespeare's masterpiece, Prospero, deposed as ruler of Milan and abandoned on a desert island, struggles with these questions.

The spirit, Ariel, shipwrecks those guilty of the betrayal and leaves them at Prospero's mercy.

From the moment that a feral Miranda, daughter of Prospero, emerges, enraged and incredulous, onto the stage it is clear that there is to be no compromise in this ambiguous but ultimately uplifting version of The Tempest.
