Directed by Julie Atherton, with book and lyrics by Jon Hartmere, and book and music by Damon Intrabartolo, Bare: A Pop Opera follows the students of St Cecilia's as they explore sex, drugs, queer identity, and prepare to bare their souls.
Pesented by SR Productions, Bare: A Pop Opera is a show not only for musical theatre fans but for anyone who has faced adversity or experienced love in its purest form.
Julie Atherton said ...
"I'm so excited to work with this fabulous bunch!
I just can't wait to get started and see what they bring to this special piece."
And producer Jason Shand-Rodger commented ...
"We are super excited to share with you the amazing cast we have found for this production of Bare.
I cannot wait for audiences to see what they can really do and bring this show to life."
A pulsating, electric contemporary rock/pop musical, Bare follows a group of students at a Catholic boarding school as they grapple with issues of sexuality, identity, and the future.
As the group attempts to put on a musical production of Romeo and Juliet, tensions flare, self-doubt simmers, and God's path seems more difficult to find than ever.
With a unique sung-through score, heart-pounding lyrics, and a cast of bright and diverse characters, Bare is a provocative, fresh, and utterly honest look at the dangers of baring your soul, and the consequences of continuing to hide who you truly are.
