Starting this weekend - free outdoor festival from the National Theatre, running for five weekends, with events on Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday from 28 July to 28 August 2017.

Back by popular demand, this weekend sees the return of the free outdoor River Stage festival from the National Theatre.

It all takes place on the River Stage, in front of the NT.

The festival runs for five weekends, with events every Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday from 28 July until 28 August, with take-overs from East London's The Glory, HOME Manchester, WOMAD, Rambert and the National Theatre itself bringing audiences an eclectic mix of performances that include the very best dance acts, DJ's and outdoor performances.

The festival is a collaborative partnership showcasing world-class programming and presenting new and diverse artists and acts, with something for everyone to enjoy.

Expect theatre, guest DJs, family fun, vibrant dance and the very best in live music acts.

Rufus Norris, Director of the National Theatre said of the event ...

"It's brilliant to welcome back the River Stage Festival.

I'm delighted that this range of partners from across the country have decided to join us this year, and the assortment of performance, music, dance and workshops free for all ages is a vibrant and vital part of the National Theatre programme this summer."

28 - 30 July: The Glory

East London's most notorious establishment The Glory is back. Expect drag-fuelled back-to-back shows, special guests, family fun and anarchic parties all weekend long.

4 - 6 August: HOME Manchester

HOME, Manchester's centre for international contemporary theatre, art, film and music bring their eclectic line-up of performances, dance and special guest DJs to our outdoor stage.

11 - 13 August: WOMAD

The World's Festival descends upon the River Stage with a diverse programme celebrating the best music you've never heard, from around the globe.

18 - 20 August: Rambert

Internationally renowned dance company Rambert fills the stage with various solos and group pieces from their stunning repertoire.

25 - 28 August: National Theatre

A Bank Holiday weekend mix of live music, DJs, tea dance and family theatre, as well as an outdoor cinema screening.
