Originally destined to premiere at Notingham Playhouse from 30 October to 14 November, before heading to Alexandra Palace from 27 November 2020 to 10 January 2021, Mark Gatiss's adaptation of Charles Dickens' ever-popular Christmas classic - A Christmas Carol - has been postponed to next year.

Performances will now take place at Nottingham Playhouse from 29 October to 13 November 2021 and at the Alexandra Palace Theatre from 26 November 2021 to 9 January 2022 (the updated show information for Alexandra Palace is given below).

Mark Gatiss (Sherlock, Dracula, The League of Gentlemen, Doctor Who) will lead an ensemble cast and the show will be directed by Nottingham Playhouse's Artistic Director, Adam Penford, who commented ...

"The audience response to this new ghostly retelling of A Christmas Carol has been overwhelming and it's with a heavy heart that we're postponing the production.

The adaptation that Mark has delivered during lockdown exceeded our already high expectations - it makes you see the well-known tale through fresh eyes - and I was so excited by all the design and production ideas we were working on.

I can't wait to bring the new show to Nottingham and the atmospheric Alexandra Palace Theatre in 2021."

Ticketholders for the original London dates at Alexandra Palace have been moved into the equivalent performance and the same seats for the 2021 run, by day of week.

Patrons will be able to use their current ticket for performances next year.

The Alexandra Palace Theatre Box Office will be in touch with ticketholders in the coming weeks.
