According to the Government's roadmap for reopening the economy, theatres should be able to start indoor performances from 17 May, subject to confirmation.
After more than a year of closure, it's little wonder that theatres are champing at the bit to fling open their doors to welcome audiences again.
And Queen's Theatre Hornchurch (which won the title 'London Theatre of the Year' in the Stage Awards 2020) is certainly as keen as any theatre to move into production gear again to build on its reputation for exciting and innovative programming.
So it's no surprise that the venue has announced a package of shows for Autumn stretching from 20 May 2021 through to 2 January 2022, with more offerings to be added to the season line-up in a further announcement expected in June.
The new season of produced work at Queen's Theatre gets underway with a new production of Tim Firth's hit comedy Neville's Island, from 20 May to 12 June and 22 June to 3 July 2021.
From 30 July to 21 August 2021, the main stage will be filled with the best of Essex pop throughout the heart of the summer as the postponed premiere of Love Letters, a brand-new jukebox musical, promises audiences an unmissable post -lockdown treat.
The show is the next step in the theatre's Essex on Stage programme, an ambitious two year programme led by Queen's Theatre and made possible by the generous support of The Clothworkers' Foundation, championing positive notions of Essex, celebrating theatre made by working class people and raising aspirations for emerging artists from Essex and Outer East London.
From 3 to 18 September 2021, Romford-born David Eldridge (In Basildon) returns home with Beginning a 'gorgeous new play' (Independent) that takes a touching look at the first fragile moments of risking your heart and taking a chance.
And panto is also on the agenda... this year Queen's Theatre will be tackling Aladdin, starting on 25 November.
