Engine Room, at Omnibus, Clapham, is an evening which puts you - the audience - at the heart of the creative process - the artists taking part want to hear what you think.
Tickets cost just £5 and the evening lasts about 2 hours.
That sounds like great value to us, plus you'll be helping the artists develop their ideas and shows too.
This month’s Engine Room features three different works, including a mother and daughter pairing from Josie Dale-Jones, beautiful puppetry and music from Paul Mosley, and inspiration from the Cthulhu mythos arising from Lucy Grace.
Here's the line-up and some brief notes about each of the works ...
Unconditional by Josie Dale Jones
Me and my mum want to make a show together.
We don’t know yet what it will be.
She wants it to be called ‘Unconditional’.
I’m not sure about that title yet but she will probably get her way …
Mothers, daughters, love and LIMITS. Is this ‘bond’ unbreakable?
The Butcher by Paul Mosley
Is it a gig? Is it a ghost story? Is it a?puppet show?
Yes.
Award-winning composer Paul Mosley presents his fantastical folk opera …
With stunning puppetry from Icelandic company Old Saw and a live ‘junk orchestra’ featuring Mediaeval Baebe’s Esther Dee, ‘The Butcher’ is a collection of fantastic and beautiful original songs telling the haunting story of a good man turned bad.
These Terrors are of Older Standing by Lucy Grace
Roger sits in the car park of Basingstoke Premier Inn watching himself drag a small suitcase through the building’s front entrance.
Inside Roger, a trace of something long buried quivers into life.
The timeless menace of H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu mythos and Lucy Grace’s poignant, quirky storytelling align over Basingstoke in an entrancing solo performance.
A work in progress from award nominated theatre maker Lucy Grace, creator of ‘Lucy, Lucy & Lucy Barfield’ and Garden.
