A new musical will get its premiere this July at Chiswick Playhouse.

From Here: A New British Musical is written by Ben Barrow and Lucy Ireland, and is a contemporary song-cycle offering the perfect opportunity for audiences to reflect on where they are and where they're going.

That may well be on many minds as we navigate our way out of the past year or so where lives have been pretty much on hold.

The show runs from 1 to 31 July at Chiswick Playhouse (formerly the Tabard Theatre).

The cast features Grace Mouat (Six, Arts Theatre; & Juliet, Shaftesbury Theatre; Hair, Turbine Theatre) and Andrew Patrick-Walker (Bat Out of Hell, London Coliseum; Brooklyn, Greenwich Theatre; Hair, Hope Mill Theatre).

They are joined by Nicola Espallardo (The Pirate Queen, London Coliseum; Les Misérables, Gielgud Theatre; Working, Southwark Playhouse), and Aidan Harkins (The Pirate Queen, London Coliseum; The Importance of Being Earnest, Barn Theatre & Turbine Theatre; Closer to Heaven, Above The Stag).

And the production is directed by Annabelle Hollingdale (Resident Director: Spring Awakening, The Hope Mill Theatre; Assistant Director: Heathers, The Other Palace).

Writer Lucy Ireland commented ...

"The characters and the themes in the show all look at different situations and how the characters deal with them personally.

We go on a journey with each individual and see how they process their situation and decide to act upon it.

This show is timely and relevant to our current situation, but will be timeless in the years to come and therefore suitable for all."

Synopsis

The world premiere of From Here: A New British Musical is a new musical from Ben Barrow and Lucy Ireland.

With four performers … several characters, the show asks the question of whether we are driven by the notion of a fairy-tale ending to our lives or are we constantly looking for something new.

Finding love, marriage, family, are these the milestones we should strive for … or is there something else that we're missing?
