Working with a diverse group of young people from London, including two British Sign Language speakers, Forced Entertainment are presenting a new version of Tim Etchells' That Night Follows Day.
Exposing the facts, white lies and excuses adults tell children, the show will be at Southbank Centre's Purcell Room from 11 to 15 December.
The original version of That Night Follows Day was produced in Dutch with the Flemish company CAMPO.
This outing at Southbank Centre will be the first time Forced Entertainment have presented the full production, and the first time it has been performed in the UK.
About the company
Forced Entertainment are a British Company who have produced some of 'the most exciting and challenging theatre of the past few decades' (The Guardian).
Their artistic director and writer, Tim Etchells, is also a solo artist in his own right, who has seen his work exhibited internationally.
He returns with the company as a Southbank Centre Associate Artist.
Funny, provocative and beautifully poetic, That Night Follows Day exposes the facts, white lies and excuses adults tell children.
Performed by children, for adults, the cast invite us to take a playful look at the way we project our world onto those around us.
With alarming clarity and humour, these eight to 14 year olds reveal the ways we are all constrained and created by the words we hear.
You feed us.
You dress us.
You watch us when we are sleeping.
You lay down the law.
You explain that night follows day.
