Produced by fast-rising theatre company Cut The Cord, the New Nordics Festival will be held in London from 16 to 21 March 2020.
This inaugural event will take place at the Yard Theatre in East London and will showcase the strengths of Nordic writing with plays from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands.
Cut The Cord are working with emerging theatre-makers from the UK and abroad to explore what Nordic theatre and culture is and how it can enrich theatre in the UK.
The festival will consist of a play from each of the Nordic countries, each led by a creative team of emerging directors, designers and actors chosen for the festival.
All the plays will receive a staged UK premiere with one performance each as part of the six-day programme.
At the end of the festival, Cut the Cord will host a day of talks and workshops around the plays, Nordic theatre, and making Nordic work more accessible in the UK.
ActDrop expects further details about the festival and plays in the programme around mid-January, so don't forget to keep an eye out then for more news about an innovative and interesting addition to the theatrical calendar.
