Synopsis
Set in Shanghai in 2010, The Monkey Picker follows a naive Englishwoman, Christina, as she becomes the unwitting victim of a scam involving a 'traditional Chinese tea ceremony'.
Touching on themes of identity, destiny and freedom, the play explores with humour and empathy the misunderstandings and connections between the two cultures, as well as the tensions between male and female, young and old, rich and poor.
