About the festival

The International Youth Arts Festival Kingston (IYAF) returns this July for its triumphant ninth year.

Showcasing the best theatre, music, dance, visual art, comedy, circus and spoken word from around the world, IYAF is fast becoming a mainstay on the arts festival calendar.

With hundreds of events taking place during the festival, including many at the Rose, IYAF will bring all the colour, talent and imagination of today's young people to Kingston for an inspiring ten days.

IYAF Opening Night Gala – showcasing the best of the festival.

Monday 10/07/17

Young Folk – a night of the finest young folk musicians in the UK, including BBC Young Folk Award winners. Confirmed: Kelly Oliver, Luke Jackson and Moore Moss Rutter.

Tuesday 11/07/17

Police Cops – the fast paced, multi award-winning comedy blockbuster.

Wednesday 12/07/17

Elmbridge Youth Dance Showcase – an exhilarating mix from Tap to Streetdance, from Ballet to Contemporary with a bit of musical theatre mixed in.

Thursday 13/07/17

Sea Stories – a triple bill of music theatre works inspired by the sea: The Upside Down Sailor, The Golden Vanity and Sinbad the Sailor

Friday 14/07/17

Ballet Dreams – a series of divertissements to delight the audience in the fantasy of ballet. Presented by London Russian Ballet School, with live orchestral accompaniment.

Saturday 15/07/17

Honk! – Olivier Award-winning twist on Hans Christian Andersen’s ‘The Ugly Duckling’. Presented by NYMT.

Sunday 16/07/17

Thames Youth Orchestra presents Scheherazade – TYO will be joined by acclaimed artist, James Mayhew, bringing Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade to life with live storytelling, narration and illustration.
