Applecart Arts are looking to raise £56,000 by the end of May this year to fund a feasibility study to begin the design of the redevelopment and refurbishment of their Harold Road building.
Applecart Arts operates both as a community centre for local residents and as a theatre and arts centre, hosting performances and workshops that tackle social issues and promote community cohesion.
The organisation programmes a range of events and performances, such as the inaugural ShoutOut Festival in October 2019: a creative response to fear and hate, Transitions: an art exhibition celebrating stories of migration that toured London between April and September 2019, and for three years co-hosted Voila: a European theatre festival alongside the Cockpit, Theatre Deli and Etcetera Camden.
Applecart Arts is in desperate need of repair and renovation if it is to continue serving the community, both local and artistic.
The theatre is hoping to completely refurbish its performance and studio spaces, install a lift to increase accessibility, improve the toilets throughout the building and reduce water and energy waste with a brand-new heating system.
Here's a video explaining what the venue does and its renovation objectives ...
You'll find more details about the project on Applecart's crowdfunding page - where you can also support their ambitious and worthy plans.
